If you’ve been fortunate enough to have eaten at any one of Maman’s many NYC locations, you’ll know why this is one of my favorite cookbooks to cook from. Maman is a french cafe with locations in NYC, Canada and now Princeton, NJ that has got their branding down to perfection. From gorgeous blue and white plates to rustic tabletops, you feel that eating at one of their locations is a special treat. Their nutty chocolate chip cookie along with their croissants and many other pastries never disappoint.
What I love about their cookbook apart from the gorgeous food photos, is how easy most recipes are. Their famous nutty chocolate chip cookie is in here along with various quiches and spreads. They even have savory quick breads such as their olive and sun-dried tomato goat cheese quick bread which is such a lovely change to the usual sweet quick breads utilizing bananas, carrots and zucchinis.
I’ve made a handful of recipes from this and they do not disappoint. Their pie dough recipe is practically fool proof and can be used for both savory and sweet pies. The balance of eggs and cheese makes their quiches truly perfect. With this book, I don’t feel like having to make a trek to the city each time I want to sink my teeth in their decadent pastries! if you love brunch for all meals, like I do, and love the beautiful food photos in this book, definitely get yourself a copy. I’ve had this on my shelf for the last year and has been in regular rotation at my house.
