An adult-only hot chocolate cocktail that’s perfect for the winter. I added half a teaspoon of Aleppo pepper which adds a lovely smoky component and slow heat build up to this spiked hot chocolate. If you’re feeling adventurous, feel free to add more!
Recipe: Smoky Kahlua Hot Chocolate
3 cups milk
10oz bitter sweet chocolate
1oz simple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp Aleppo pepper (or more to taste)
4 oz kahlua
guajillo chilies for garnish
In a pot, add all the ingredients except for the kahlua and bring to a boil, stirring until the chocolate melts. Take pot off heat and strain the hot chocolate into a cocktail mixing glass. Allow to cool slightly until warm. Stir in the kahlua and divide the hot chocolate cocktail equally into 4 whiskey glasses. Garnish with a guajillo chili and a sprinkle of Aleppo pepper.
Serve warm.
